Collaborative Spaces: Wing it!

Create a collaborative space for a group discussion using an online tool you haven’t used before. Try it out for at least two weeks. After trying it out, compare that experience with the experience you’ve gotten from a collaborative space that you’re more familiar with and have more experience. How does the new space compare? What are similarities? What about differences? Are you ready to switch over? Are there specific circumstances or purposes when that space might work better that overall?

Are there features that are missing? If so, and the tool offers a space for user comments, send a comment to the developer. Capture that communication and submit it with your assignment. If no comment area is available and you can’t find anything on the platforms’ website, locate a twitter account and send a tweet.

Is there a feature that is so awesome you just can’t believe it? If so, and the tool offers a space for user comments, send a comment to the developer. Explain why it is so great. Submit it with your assignment. If no comment area is available and you can’t find anything on the platforms’ website, locate a twitter account and send a tweet.

Goal: To gain experience with alternative collaborative platforms and to be able to define purpose, describe features, and compare to other platforms. Communication with the developer provides experience with publishing and is practice for good Digital Citizenship.
